Please note the change in the morning pick up location for the bus from Vancouver.  The bus will now pick up and drop off at Gladstone School.  There will be no pick-up at Cedar Cottage in the morning.

Volunteer Training for Youth

volunteer1.jpg Sasamat Outdoor Centre offers a Volunteer Training Program designed for individuals 14 -16 years old. Participants will develop basic leadership skills and be introduced to the role and responsibility of being a volunteer leader.  Volunteers will work in a variety of roles, assisting group leaders and other camp staff in the operation of Sasamat's summer camp. This program is an excellent way to gain experience while sharing your talents with the community.  

After completion of the program participants can volunteer throughout the summer if needed.  Volunteers for our day camp sessions are selected and scheduled based on need, availability, and individual maturity.  This program is recommended as a prerequisite to Sasamat's Leadership Training Program.

The Volunteer Program is an overnight program.  Youth arrive 9:45 am Wednesday and depart approximately 3:00 Friday.  If you selected bus transportation when you registered, please check the link under Transportation for pick up and drop off information.   Meals are provided for the 3 days.

volunteer2.jpgNOTE: When registering, if you chose will mail in cheque - Payment for all sessions are due in full 30 days prior to the start of the session date.  If payment has not been received in full 30 days prior to the start date you will be considered as not registered and your registration will be cancelled.

Plan ahead and view available transportation options for the Volunteer Training Program. Transportation is provided from Vancouver and Ti-Cities at designated stops at no additional cost.

What to bring:

Note: Please be sure to put your child's first and last name on their all of their belongings to ensure that they will be returned to you.  Please do not send "expensive" clothing or other items in case they could get lost. Please note that lost and found items will only be kept for 4 weeks after the session date.

Rain jacket and rain pants
Sun screen with 30 or greater UV protection

4 complete change of clothes Extra sweater and warm jacket
Personal Items (wash cloth, toothbrush, soap, shampoo) 2 pairs shoes or boots (only sandals with strap around heel will be allowed)
Bathing suit and towel Baseball cap or sun hat
Pillow and sleeping bag (or 3 blankets) Flashlight
Water bottle Pyjamas
Duffle bag or suitcase  

Optional Items:

Sunglasses Insect Repellent Camera (disposable) Books/Journals Stuffed Toy

What not to bring:

Expensive Games/Toys Knives CD Players/IPods/MP3s
Money-No where to spend it Matches or Lighters Junk Food

Refund Policy: 

Campers unable to attend a session for any reason will receive a refund, less a $50 administration fee, provided our office is notified thirty days before the start of the session.  If notified less than thirty days prior, we will attempt to refill your spot from our waiting list, and if we are successful you will receive a refund less the $50 administration fee.  Refunds can take up to 4 weeks.
