What To Bring To Camp for Voyageurs & Ridgerunners

Key Considerations For Out-trip Packing

  • 1 pair of athletic pants (quick drying preferably)
  • 1 pair of warm pants 
  • 1 pair of athletic shorts
  • 3 t-shirts
  • 3 long sleeve shirts
  • 1 set of long underwear (top and bottom) 
  • 1 warm fleece or sweater
  • 1 waterproof rain jacket
  • 1 waterproof pair of rain pants
  • 1 pair of supportive hiking shoes or boots
  • 1 pair of comfortable closed toed sandals for walking around campsite (not flip-flops)
  • 8 pairs of socks
  • 1 pair of warm sleeping socks
  • 9 pairs of underwear
  • 1 bathing suit
  • 1 sun hat
  • 1 small towel
  • 1 pair of sunglasses
  • At least a 0 degree sleeping bag that can pack compactly with a compression sack (alternatives include dry bag or garbage bag). -7 degree sleeping bag is preferable. 
  • 2 water bottles, wide brim Naglenes work well
  • 1 small notebook and pen
  • Toiletries: small tube of toothpaste, toothbrush, small bottle sunscreen, 1 small bottle of hand sanitizer, 1 small bottle bug spray, 1 roll of toilet paper (any other personal items requiered ex. contacts or medications)
  • Thermarest or sleeping pad (optional, Sasamat will provide blue foam sleeping pad)
  • Sasamat will provide 75L hiking packs (if you have your own you would like to us you may bring it with you, needs to be 75L hiking pack to accomodate group & personal gear)  
  • 1 duffle bag (for belongings that do not come on trip to be stored in)
  • Comfortable clothes and bathing suit for in camp before and after trip
Please be sure your child's first and last name is on all of their belongings to ensure that they will be returned to you. 
Please not that lost and gound items will only be kept for 4 weeks after the session date. 
What Not to Bring:
  • Illegal Drugs, Alcohol or Cigarettes
  • Personal Electronics (cell phones, ipods, gaming devices, MP3s, etc.)
  • Pocket Knives
  • Valuables
  • Money
  • Fire Starting Devices
  • Junk Food
  • Anything special that if gotten wet or dirty would result in an upset camper or family
