Belcarra Park Day Camp

Belcarra_3.JPGBelcarra Park Day Camp is an exciting nature and science program for children ages 6-12, that will get them outside, active and having fun this summer. The program is designed to foster positive social growth, group awareness and leadership, while building a love for nature and the outdoors. Children will be introduced to science based projects, activities and enjoy a wide range of games and outdoor activities. 
Situated on Burrard Inlet, at the mouth of Indian Arm, Belcarra Park provides an opportunity for children to explore the exciting intertidal zone. Campers will discover the wonders of the sea life including starfish, barnacles, crabs, and mussels. They will enjoy the local hikes in the area including Admiralty Point and Jug Island which feature beautiful ocean views and small beaches, and they will also learn about the rich early history of Belcarra.
Belcarra Park Day Camp is Sasamat's satellite day camp that operates independently from the main site. Campers will be based out of the beautiful park, with the main large picnic shelter as their home base. 
Belcarra Park Day Camp runs from Monday to Friday, and is day camp program operating from 10:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. each day.

Belcarra Day Camp programs provide campers with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of outdoor activities in a safe and welsupervised environment. Programs and activities are geared to the age, abilities and interests of the individual, as well as the group. 


Transportation is provided from the Port Moody Recreation Centre (300 Ioco Road) only.
The bus will stop at the Port Moody Recreation Centre in front of the arena. 
  • Departs - 9:30 a.m.
  • Returns - 3:45 p.m. 
Please arrive 10 minutes early.
Belcarra Day Camp campers do not participate in Sasamat Late Night Thursdays. The bus schedule will remain the same on Thursdays. 
Things to Know!
  • Tuesdays @ Sasamat: campers will go to Sasamat Outdoor Centre (3302 Senkler Road) for the day. Buses from Port Moody will drop off and pick up at Sasamat Outdoor Centre. If you drop your child off, please drive them to Sasamat Outdoor Centre on Tuesday. 
  • Week 5 (August 2-5): instead of coming to Sasamat on Tuesday, Belcarra Day Camp will come to Sasamat on Wednesday August 3, 2016. 
  • Thursday Nights: unlike the Sasamat Day Camp program, Belcarra Day Campers have a regular day on Thursdays and finish at 3:15pm. The transporation schedule does not change on Thursdays for Belcarra campers. Please plan to pick up your child as normal on Thursdays. 
  • Bagged Lunches: Please send your child with a bagged lunch, lunches are not included with Belcarra Day Camp. 
  • Allergies and Diet Restrictions: Due to the large number of children with nut allergies, please do not send your child with peanut butter sandwiches or other nut products. We are a nut free environment. Please indicate your childs allergies at time of registration in the camper information section, or call into the office.  
  • T-Shirts: All campers receive a T-shirt at no additional cost. Please indicate size when registering. If you register past April 30, size cannot be guaranteed. 
  • Before and After Care: is available at Port Moody Recreation Centre for an additional fee. For more information visit the Before and After Care page.  
  • Program Age: must be 6 before August 31 of the program year to enroll.
  • Friend Requests: camp is about making new friends. Our first priority is our campers experience, which is why Sasamat only allows campers to make one friend request (which will not be guaranteed). Balanced groups based on age and gender create a positive camp experience for everyone. We encourage campers to bring a friend and make a friend, branching out to meet and include new people. Sasamat will not juggle groups around after camp sessions have begun to put friends together and we encourage you to talk to your camper about meeting new people before camp begins.   
Payment, Refund and Transfers
Full payment must be complete no later than May 1, 2017.
If payment has not been received in full by May 1, 2017, your registration will be cancelled and your spot will be given to another camper.   If you require a payment alternative, please contact the office. 
Transfer Fee- Sasamat will charge a transfer fee of $30.00 per child each time a camper wishes to transfer from one week or program to another. All transfers must be complete 30 days prior to the start date of the camp session.
Cancellations more than 30 days before the start of the camp session Refunds are provided, minus a $50.00 administration fee. 
Cancellations within 30 days of a camp session -  Refunds are not provided unless your spot can be filled with a camper of the same age and gender. If your spot can be filled, a refund will be provided, minus a $50.00 administration fee.  
Substitution of Campers - Due to long waiting lists and age and gender issues, camper substitutions are not allowed. If you cancel a camper's registration, another camper can not be put in his or her place.
