Sasamat Day Camp introduces children to an exciting range of age-friendly, outdoor activities designed to foster social growth, group awareness and leadership, while building a love for nature and the outdoors.

Programs take place at Sasamat's unique lakeside setting in Belcarra Regional Park and in the surrounding area. Sasamat Day Camp is a wonderful program to introduce campers to summer camp, and a great stepping stone to prepare your child for resident camp.

Every week a new Day Camp community forms that features imagination, adventure and new experiences led by our exceptional staff. Sasamat Day Camp truly brings to life the magic of summer camp for our younger campers.

Sasamat Day Camp runs from Monday to Friday, and is a day camp program operating from 10:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. each day (with the exception of Thursday, see below).

Things to Know!
  • Late Night Thursdays: Thursday evenings are special for Sasamat Day Campers. Dinner will be provided (campfire cook out dinner), which will be followed by a full camp campfire with songs and skits. Sasamat Day Camp Parents are invited to join campfire, campfire is from 7:00pm-8:00pm. If you are joining us for campfire please look out for the parking attendant to help you park and please leave your pets at home (we are a pet free environment). Sasamat Day Camp pick up time on Thursdays is 8:00pm. Buses will depart at 8:00pm and follow their regular routes. Please refer to Summer Bus Information page for bus stop pick up times on Thursday evening.
  • Thursday Night Day Camp Overnight: we also invite our oldest group of day campers (oldest girls group & oldest boys group) for an overnight at Sasamat. This is a special opportunity for the campers in the oldest groups as an introduction into Residential Camp. Campers will sleep in our wood platform sheltered tents. On Thursday morning, if your child is DC11 or DC12 please send  them with an overnight bag, sleeping bag and pillow.
  • Bagged Lunches & Lunch Program: You can either send a lunch with your child or purchase a nutritious bag lunch from our kitchen. Bagged lunches are ordered by the week (no exceptions made) at time of registration for $35.00. Bagged lunches include a sandwich, drink, fruit and dessert.

  • Allergies and Diet Restrictions: Due to the large number of children with nut allergies, please do not send your child with peanut butter sandwiches or other nut products. We are a nut free environment. Please indicate your childs allergies at time of registration in the camper information section, or call into the office.
  • T-Shirts: All campers recieve a t-shirt at no additional cost. Please indicate size when registering. If you register past April 30, size cannot be guaranteed.
  • Before and After Care: is available at Port Moody Recreation Centre for an additional fee. For more information visit the Before and After Care page.
  • Program Age: must be 6 before August 31 of the program year to enroll.
  • Friend Requests: camp is about making new friends. Our first priority is our campers experience, which is why Sasamat only allows campers to make one friend request (which will not be guaranteed). Balanced groups based on age and gender create a positive camp experience for everyone. We encourage campers to bring a friend and make a friend, branching out to meet and include new people. Sasamat will not juggle groups around after camp sessions have begun to put friends together and we encourage you to talk to your camper about meeting new people before camp begins.

Is My Child Ready for a Resident Camp Experience?

Is your child old enough to attend Resident Camp? Has your child spent a year or two in Day Camp already? Is your child ready to spend time away from home in a safe and nurturing environment?

Day_Camp_4.JPG
It might be time to ask your child what she/he thinks about the idea of staying over at camp. Some children are more fearful than others and not ready to venture far from their known environment. Others spread their wings more easily and seek out new experiences outside of the home.

Parents are often nervous of letting their children move away from the embrace of family. That's understandable. The important question to ask as a parent is whether your child is ready for that move. If they feel they are, it might be time for your family to discover whether Resident Camp works for all of you.

Resident Camp is a different experience than Day Camp - for everyone in the family. It can help a child and a family grow and learn to understand each other better, while providing an experience that a child will never forget. Are both you and your child ready?
