Thanks to a generous donation from the Alexandra Foundation for Neighbourhood Houses, Sasamat Outdoor Centre was able to purchase and install two yurts just in time for summer 2012.
Modern yurts are based on"gers", traditional portable dwellings used by Mongolian herders
(http://www.bluepeak.net/mongolia/ger.html), but are made with modern exterior materials rather than hides and furs.
Sasamat's yurts will be used for staff accommodation as well as expanding the opportunity for additional camper groups for summer camp and outdoor education programs.
