On Sunday, June 22, 2014, Sasamat Community Board members, staff, and friends of Sasamat joined thousands of other community-minded people for the Vancouver Scotiabank Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk.
The day was perfect and much fun was had by all, in no small part due to the ridiculous "skorts" we wore which garnered many positive comments and one "You should have worn a tutu." from a tutu clad lady, who, I've been told, must have poor fashion sense since tutus are "so passé."
Of course, there was also a Camelback of liquid nutrient provided by one far-thinking individual which may have impeded my recollection of the degree of fun that was had by all.
Thanks to each of the participants and to all of the donors who made the day a big success. Your efforts raised $4896.00 for Sasamat Outdoor Centre's "Send Kid to Camp" program, funds which help kids from less fortunate families to attend a camp session.
If you missed the opportunity to donate to Send a Kid To Camp for the Scotiabank event, you can donate anytime at www.sasamat.org.
