Outdoor Education & School Programs
Make BC’s spectacular natural environment the setting for your students’ learning adventure. Sasamat Outdoor Centre offers outdoor educational programs for school groups throughout the school year.
School programs focus on environmental education, communication, team building, and personal growth. Students will be immersed in the outdoors, and will leave Sasamat having shared a profound learning experience with their classmates.
Spend anywhere from one to five days at Sasamat as we take your students through a suite of our outdoor education programs, including canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, high ropes, archery, campfire activities, and so much more!
With a focus on the BC School Curriculum’s Core Competencies, programs integrate student development in the areas of communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and personal and social development. Teachers will witness meaningful experiential learning, while students will experience an unforgettable outdoor adventure.
Featuring a small student/staff ratio of 8:1 and customizable program schedules, Sasamat will work with you to ensure your trip meets your objectives and expectations.

Upon arrival, students will be greeted with a welcome and safety orientation, and then will be guided through program activities. At lunch time, students will enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared hot meal from our in-house chefs. From the moment you arrive to when you depart, our staff will take care of everything.

Overnight Trips
Up to 100 Guests
Take your students through the full outdoor education experience with an overnight trip to Sasamat Outdoor Centre. Staying anywhere from one to five days, an overnight experience at Sasamat will capture everything outdoor education has to offer: participating in engaging outdoor education activities, eating delicious food, personal and group reflection, and immersion in nature.
Teachers will enjoy seeing students’ exponential personal growth as students embrace the challenge of being away from home for a few days. Programs will focus on the BC curriculum’s core competencies and will utilize traditional outdoor educational programs as the canvas for learning, including paddle sports, rock climbing, and forest exploration.
Upon arrival, students and teachers will be shown to their lakeside cabin, cottage, or yurt, where they will sleep during their stay. Students will spend their days participating in a fully immersive outdoor education program, following a customized schedule to meet your educational goals. Students and teachers alike will come together in our dining hall during meal times to eat hearty, freshly cooked meals. The magic of camp comes to life at night with campfire sing-a-longs, stargazing, and the quiet stillness of the lake.
Teachers and chaperones will have the opportunity to join or observe their students throughout the day, take advantage of the facility to get some quiet work done, or simply relax and have a coffee or tea by the lake.
Our Programs
Sasamat Outdoor Centre offers a full range of outdoor education programs. Whether it’s working to communicate with your partner while tandem canoeing or collaborating with your team to reach the top of the high-ropes element, outdoor education programs at Sasamat Outdoor Centre give students the opportunity to develop core and sub competencies related to the BC School Curriculum in a fun and natural play setting.
Our highly trained outdoor education instructors are competent facilitators who will engage students, and work to strengthen individual and group skillsets. Instructors will deliver exciting experiential programs where students will try their hand at many new activities.
Programs can be adapted to be age-appropriate and suitable for the grade level. Water-related programs are supervised by a certified lifeguard, and all staff are certified in first aid. Our programs are always run with a student/staff ratio of 8:1 or less, giving students the amount of space, instruction and attention they need to be successful.
