Family Camp is a weekend away on the lake for the whole family, designed to be an adventurous program for the children and a relaxing vacation for the parents. Family camp is a comfortable camping getaway that draws everyone into the magic of summer camp.
Ideal for introducing young participants to summer camp, Family Camp allows first time campers to try out summer camp with the comfort of family close by. Running from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, this family event offers a full weekend of optional programming, lakeside accommodation, and complete catering, so you don’t have to worry about any details – aside from whether you’d like to go paddling or drink your coffee on the dock.
Families will be welcomed upon arrival on Friday evening, assigned to sleeping accommodations, and invited to a welcome orientation to meet the group and the weekend Family Camp Host. On Saturday, kids and youth will be assigned a camper group with other campers of similar age, and will have the chance to try many of Sasamat’s programs with an instructor. Children will be supervised during program time by camp counsellors and adults will have the choice to either join the adult group to enjoy Sasamat’s programming, or to hang back and relax.
Each day includes “family time”, where families can roam about together and enjoy the camp’s amenities, as well as evening programming for the whole group. The weekend will get everyone outdoors, unplugged, and connected to a wonderful community of families. Family Camp runs twice during the summer: once in July and once in August.
Family Camp, like all programs at Sasamat, is founded on the values of inclusion, respect and compassion. All will be encouraged to try new things, however everyone will always have the choice to decide what is best for themselves.
