Belcarra Day Camp is an exciting summer day camp program that will draw campers into the wonders of the ocean and forest. This day camp is full of outdoor activities as this oceanside location features inquisitive science and ecology-inspired programs. Belcarra Day Camp is an offsite program, located at the təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park picnic area. Outdoor activities for day campers will include exploration of the intertidal zone during low tide, a paddle in the Voyageur canoe around the bay, and high energy field or forest games.

Upon arrival, campers will be placed in groups with seven peers of similar age. Each group will have one counsellor, as Belcarra Day Camp has a 1:8 staff to camper ratio. Sasamat Outdoor Centre camp staff are high achieving senior high school or post-secondary students that undergo a six day in house training program prior to the start of summer camp. Belcarra Day Campers will also spend Tuesdays at Sasamat Outdoor Centre to have an opportunity to go swimming, kayaking, try out archery and low ropes. Our Belcarra Day Camp counsellors are passionate leaders and nature enthusiasts who will lead their campers through a wonderful week outdoors.

Belcarra Day Camp, like all programs at Sasamat, is founded on the values of inclusion, respect and compassion. Campers are encouraged to try new things, but they always have the choice to decide what’s best for themselves. If a challenge arises while at camp, our highly trained staff will work with day campers to problem solve and help each camper to have a successful experience.

Before & After Care

Before and After Care is extended daytime care for families that may need longer child care hours. Before and After Care is based out of Port Moody Recreation Centre and is run by Sasamat Camp Counsellors. Participants will get to enjoy the recreation centre’s playground, as well as low organizational games or activities. The cost is $43 per child for the week, and the hours are:

8:00am until the buses depart the Recreation Centre (i.e. 9:30am)

When the buses arrive end of day (i.e. 3:45pm) until 5:30pm

 Facilities

Belcarra Day Campers are based out of the Belcarra Regional Park picnic shelter, which we have exclusive use of during the summer program. The park has public bathroom facilities, and Sasamat Outdoor Centre will provide water jugs to ensure all campers have plenty of clean drinking water in an environmentally-responsible way. We also have a trailer located nearby, which contains all of the gear for camper activities.

 Food

Belcarra Day Campers must bring their own packed lunches, which must be nut-free due to the large number of children with allergies. Unfortunately, we don’t have lunches available for purchase for the Belcarra day program.
