COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan
Health and safety of our campers and staff remains our top priority. The outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in modification or cancellation of all programs and services over the last two years. It has also resulted in operational changes to workplace practices to ensure employee safety. The Sasamat Outdoor Centre COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan is a comprehensive policy that complements the ANHBC Pandemic Influenza Policy and Procedure COVID-19 Policy and adheres to the BC Camps Association (BCCA) COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines. This document offers as a comprehensive workplace safety management plan for staff, participants and affiliated organizations that describes how health and safety will be managed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The BCCA continually updates the COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines in collaboration with the BCCDC, PHO and WorkSafeBC. At this time, it is too early to determine next summer’s pandemic landscape, however we anticipate many of the health of safety measures from the last two summers will be continued.
With the reintroduction of overnight camp to Sasamat Outdoor Centre, requirement of COVID-19 vaccinations for campers is under consideration. The Public Health Office has not yet provided guidelines on the requirement of COVID-19 vaccinations for campers, however once information is released, Sasamat Outdoor Centre will work in collaboration with these guidelines to develop a policy around COVID-19 vaccinations for overnight campers that is suitable for our context. Flexible refund policies will be available to ensure families can make pragmatic decisions for summer 2022 if a vaccination policy is put in place. All Sasamat Outdoor Centre staff, including year-round and seasonal employees, will be fully vaccinated.
Sasamat Outdoor Centre will continue to monitor and update the Sasamat Outdoor Centre COVID-19 Health and Safety plan as needed and communicate changes as they occur.
