At Sasamat, we do things a little different for our teenage campers, as we understand that teenagers need extra challenges and excitement. This overnight group camp is open to all youth ages 13-14, and features a week full of unique opportunities reserved for Sasamat’s older campers. Teen Overnight Camp is specifically geared to engage and empower teenage campers to be their best selves. Teen Overnight Camp will bring together a group of twelve campers with two counsellors, as this camp has a camper to staff ratio of 1:6. Sasamat Outdoor Centre camp staff are high achieving post-secondary students that undergo a six day in house training program prior to the start of summer camp.

Teens campers will enjoy an adventurous hike, an evening swim across the lake, an overnight tent experience, and some advanced high ropes elements and team building initiatives. Our teen groups move through their day as a one co-ed unit, though they sleep in same-gendered cabins. As some of the oldest campers in the overnight camp community, our teen campers are regarded as role models by both younger campers and staff. Since teen camp is often the final year for a camper at Sasamat before embarking on an off-site Wilderness Trip (Link to “Wilderness Trips”) or becoming a Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) (Link to “CIT”), we strive to make it as memorable as possible for all teen campers.

Teen Overnight Camp, like all programs at Sasamat, is founded on the values of inclusion, respect and compassion. Campers are encouraged to try new things, be it food or program, however they always have the choice to decide what is best for themselves.
